Duplicates not awakening

I just opened a crystal and got a duplicate. I'm not sure which bot it was but I got assault ore so I assume that means it was an assult class. I checked my bot list and there was no awakened assault bot. What's the story? I assume one stars can be awakened? Do they have to be max rank to be awakened?

    One star bots do not have Sig abilities and they cannot be awakened

    Makes sense. In that case is it better to dupe or forge them?

    You essentially can't dupe them - forge one (or more) of them before you open new crystals.

    It depends what you want more of: ore, gold, & time or forge points. In either case you're dealing with pretty small amounts
