Sharkticon Rend vs Grimlock

Not sure if this is a bug, but I just duped my 3* Grimlock and took him into a campaign mission. One of the sharkticons had Rend, and when they hit 50% health, any bleeds they inflicted no longer purified as they had earlier in the same fight. Was wondering if this is intentional or not, since purifying damaging debuffs is kind of Grimlock's thing.
