Can someone fill us in on what the determining factor is we assume it's for testing purposes but just curious what dictates was it account creation date or just random?

Sorry for the late reply on this one.
To answer your question simply, it's decided randomly. But to elaborate a little, this is a test that we implemented so we could collect data on what difficulty players preferred. As you know, the game is still in the early stages of its Beta period. This is a time for us to tweak and balance content, as well as test out what difficulty level is appropriate. From time to time, that might mean a test like this, but will eventually end after we gather the information necessary.
In this case, we hope to end this test soon and give all players the same experience, and result in us giving you all the best game possible!
