No exclusives given during "special" crystals and constant duplicates

Given the high price of crystals and energon in the game, am I the only one who has been given almost nothing worth while from crystals? I've been buying exclusive crystals and have yet to obtain ANY of the characters that were locked to them. After dropping over $100 and only getting duplicates and normal characters, I feel like I'm being strong armed. The ONLY item worth noting that i've received was a 3 star movie prime and he isn't exclusive at all. No Drift, Soundwave, Waspinator, or anyone else during their exclusivity period. Just standard release characters. Anyone else having the same issue? How much money am I expected to drop to obtain a character?

It's still slim chance even as feature don't expect much, one guy spent 2k to get soundwave when he came out

That just seems like money grabbing then. I really like the core mechanics and structure of the game but the lack of access to characters makes for an immediate pay wall and detaches (at least myself) people from the game.

All feature bots will be added to regular crystal in time you just have to wait

A guy in my alliance got a 4* Drift from his first (and only) crystal. Personally I have played for months and don't have a single 4*, and only 5 3*

Play the Arena and get 3* and 4* shards I got a 4* from spending money yes but most of my 3* are from thr Arena and I almost have two fully formed 4* crystals but saving them for new 4* bots in the crystal

What Omega said, arena shards are your best friend. 4 weeks of doing the bare minimum to rank in 4* arena (3-4 hours per week?) gets you a guaranteed 3* bot.

Welcome to gacha gaming. This is standard fare for this type of monetisation system, which is typically designed first, and then the game is designed around to suit it.
  • Hey there! I'm sorry to hear that you're not having much luck getting what you'd like out of some of the crystals. There are certainly the areas to ensure specific rewards, while many of the crystals will guarantee a certain level bot, with chances at various specific bots and levels. There's more information available here, or in-game by tapping on the Gear-shaped icon in the top left corner of your base screen, and then on the support button. From here you can review the various game and Support FAQ available. Hope this helps!

Pretty generic answer, with a link to a generic content page, no explanation as to why people are not getting their money's worth in this game.

You got your answer. Bots are random from crystals. You just don't like the answer so you choose to ignore it even though it's the truth.

Nowhere on any of the exclusive crystals does it say you are guaranteed one of the feature Bots. It only says that it is possible to pull one.

Not a scam in any way, shape, or form. It's called gacha (Japanese onomotopia for a slot machine handle I think) and it's been more or less unchanged for years. The bot drops are random because that's how the system is designed, and it clearly tells you that on each crystal. Blind bag draws are also gacha systems, although they're physical items and there's no way to grind for free ones.

Exactly, Kabam has been doing this for sometime now, mcoc is prime example. There are even posts in consumer report sites reporting them as scammers.

The one correction I'll offer is that Gacha (based on the term Gashapon) usually includes a select list of on average 4-10 items that are CLEARLY labeled. Granted the crystals are random and do not guarantee a special drop but my issue is that there is no point in them being included if the crystals won't give them reliably until someone drops hundreds of dollars or has to grind for dozens of hours per character. I want to play but I also don't want false promises of characters when they're clearly being held at a distance until people ante up a small fortune. I paid for all 3 tiers of Magnus on Ios when the game launched because that was an honest and up front sale. They said (hypothetically) "here's Magnus. He costs this much $$$. Want him?" and upon paying, was given the exact item advertised. I would prefer more single character packs (like the Ironhide that coincidentally is being offered today) or have a limited assortment in the special crystals so that there aren't people paying a fortune for duplicates of who they already own. It's my two cents on the issue and I understand that my argument is a balance of preference and legitimate statements. I just hope that we can keep an open conversation that doesn't shoot each other down. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go back to attempting to obtain a tier one warrior spark for my Bludgeon who I am EXTREMELY thankful I was able to obtain and who keeps me coming back!

We've done it when we were kids, seeing those little red vending toy machines or candy machines, we see the toys they have and what you can get, you happily put in your 25 cents, turn the knob hoping you get that cool looking car but instead you get the dumb looking ring.

Even in vegas, play your credits at the slots and it's all random numbers you win or you don't win, the spinning colors and the sounds activate a slight adrinaline rush when your hoping to hit the jackpot, same goes for the crystal spins in this game, you see all the good bots fly by the sound effects that mimic a slot machine, all done to activate those synapses in your brain to get you to spend more because of the slight rush.

It's been done for decades now to get people to spend money, it's a game of chance when you spin, but nothing can be done because we also have the option to play for the reward offered making it a game of skill, just like pinball it too was a game of chance then they added paddles to make it a game of skill and no one could say that it's gambling.

The samurai crystal is listed as being the only crystal to give you a chance at EVERY bot, including Prowl, Ultra Magnus, and Soundwave.

The only difference is casinos have strict regulations, their digital pseudo-rng systems are more robust and get audited to make sure they're performing to standard within defined ranges of acceptability for sequences etc.

I think casinos are a bit cheaper too.

That's the point, only 1% of the players who opened featured crystals get good stuff

I duped my 3* Ironhide from samurai crystal, 3* Sideswipe dupe in act1 exploration crystal and Idk if their sig abillities are good or not
