Autobot Insignia on Bumblebee Movie Shockwave?

So what do you guys think about this?

Could it of been a mistake? or was it to show that Shockwave was once an Autobot?

    Maybe it refers to that one time in the IDW comics where he was a heroic Senator. Maybe?

    Or probably Hasbro pulling off a G1 reference by adding an animation error.

    Its worn down and scratched a bit. Symbolic of his rejection of the Autobots? I agree its unlikely to be an error, particularly on such an iconic Decepticon.
