Base defenders recharge? What's it for?

So.. noticed my Ultra Magnus was highlited in red, so I expanded his info and saw this:

What's recharge for? It does cost me 1 gold but it doesn't seem to do anything... You can just recharge again.

I haven't raided with him, it used him for anything at all.

    Is this visible on any other Defender?

    I thought it was only on defenders where the background of their portrait is red... But the red portrait signifies the final defender node/boss. It was just coincidence that this bot had the timer when I expanded his stats.

    None of my other bots have this timer/recharge thing, I checked.
