Is there an ideal number of bots?

From what I've seen so far, it feels like more the merrier as you can play more arenas with more bots, regardless of stars. Is there a limit to the number of bots you can keep? Does Forging them give you big gains?

The only limit to number of bots is when you have all the bots at 2*, 3*, 4*, and 5*. When you are starting out, grinding arenas is essential to get ranking materials, so you will want as many bots as you can get. As you start hitting walls that you can't overcome with your bots at unforged strength, then you will need to start forging to gain the extra strength needed to overcome the more difficult content.

Oh thats a very good answer. Thanks! Are 5 star bots easy to come by later in the game or are they always rare?

Nope, the 5 star bot crystals can be obtained more easily later in the game. When u start getting T3 Ore-13 Crystals in Away Missions u also get almost 1000 5 star crystal shards or even more. Tho these are rare but u can get one of these everyday or else once every two days. All depends on RNG. For now focus on those 4 star shards in away missions if u r not there yet ;) Will help u increase ur Roster.

@Konvoy 5* are always rare, though at higher levels you may even get 1/week!

But trust me, even after around 2 yrs of playing F2F, 5*s are very much something to look forward to.

Duping them to a high level activates abilities, and what @Bi1b0Baggins said about forging... vehemently improves your 5*s, to the point a low forge VS high forge bot plays like night & day.

An example is a fully ranked up Motormaster is rated around 8K and has a 2K attack, but a forge 100 version is rated 11K, possesses 45K health, and has a 3.3K attack!
And that's before you unleash his signature.

PS-an ideal number of bots is whatever helps you achieve all arena milestones ASAP; and doesn't hobble your ability to simultaneously do raid, AM and spotlights.

Thanks for that. Is there a rule of thumb of when to forge> Like if you start getting 4 stars then you should forge all your 2 stars?

Oh, so Forging is pretty useful then! Do you forge 3 star in 4 star and then that 4 star into a 5 star? or just forge them all into the 5 star in one go?

@Konvoy at newbie levels, don't forge EVERYTHING just yet.
Muster resources into your 4*s, and rank up the 2*s (dupe them to a high level, too) then forge them into your 4*s.

Not worth investing in anything lower than 4*s.

Rank up the 3*s, but concentrate on forging into 4*s, latterly 5*s when you've got a decent enough roster.
    TAKE YOUR TIME

@BlackRazak @UmairKhan05 Thanks for these tips! defo makes sense. Also, I have tons of Ore 13 & basic sparks, so good to plough them into something!

balance your resources between ranking key 4/5*s to help lift your game, and ranking 2/3* bots approaching sig100 for forging

i'd recommend always prioritising ranking 5* as you'll get the most immediate gain there

re forging: 4* are heavy on sparks (primarily t1a and t2c), so you can only rank so many at a time, i'd prioritise ranking 1 or 2x 4* first, and the left over ore/sparks go to your 2/3*

this is from the perspective of saving resources to only rank during bot leveling events

Play the game until level 35, and you will not need to answer these questions anymore. You may have a five star at that point.

Ah yes, it doesn't always work out like that tho. Another way is that u need to open 4 star bot crystals atleast 20 times in order to hv a 5 star. The best way to earn 4 stars at ur level is through away missions...Away missions are actually the easiest way to earning shards and thereby strengthening ur roster :)

My 4* guys are building up nicely now! I forged a few bots, mainly movie bots so I can keep a g1 roster. And that gave me some more crystals too. I'm also concentrating on going back through old missions to 100% them before starting new ones. In any case still loving the game!

Ideally you want to make sure you keep enough bots to be able to guarantee victory on the most difficult away missions, while also having a good base defense, in addition to your top team(s) to use on event/story/alliance missions.
On top of that, the more bots you have the more bots you can use in Arenas.
