As you may have noticed, people are reluctant to tell you at what level AMs are being done. This because top 10 at least is rather close to each other and any information that gives competing alliances a clue as to what difficulty to attempt to gain a few spots, is closely guarded.

Oh, come on,it's just a game. Do people have to show their dark side even in a little cellphone game? Keep it if they really want to.
It serves no purpose except to raise the bar, forcing everyone to spend more energon reviving and repairing their squad to maintain their ranking.
The logic is... The rank rewards arent all that worth it, the real prizes are the milestones.. But, it's still better to keep them out of the hands of the competition, slowing their progression.
