All,

Again, new to the game. Anyone have any General Utility/Versatile Mastery Set-up advice? I'm clueless and dumping everything into the first 2 options of both Offense and Defense, both at 4/4.

The very first in each is only worth one rank. The second is useful. Once you're ready to spend energon on cores then masteries like courage are very good.

Imo in the meantime play with the other masteries that don't require cores to unlock.

Also in general % increases over flat numbers when choosing.

Also take into consideration the bots you use most. For instance, you mentioned Arcee and Galvatron, so any mastery that deals in ranged damage or increasing critical rates would be worth looking at. Masteries like Gunslinger might increase your mileage a bit with bots like Arcee.

The good thing is that once you spend cores to unlock things, they stay unlocked, only needing gold to reactivate them again and fool around with different configurations.

Since there are many game mechanics to learn when starting up, I'd say read the description of each Mastery and think about how you fight (offensively and defensively), then decide.
For example, specials are safe to land in a combo and they contribute to a large part of your general damage, so "Sequencer" is a sure bet to increase output. If you get hit often, consider increase armor, etc.
