Not getting any notifications

in Bugs and Known Issues
as of yesterday I have not received any notification for crystals, start/end of am, away mission returned. I have a Google Pixel running Android 8.1.0 which hasn't recently updated. I have turned notification on and off, reinstalled the game, deleted both cache and data, and restarted the phone but it still doesn't work.

    Yep, more often then not notifications don't happen. I suspect the notifications are done by the background app which crashes constantly for me.

    how do i fix the background app if it is that?

    You can try force stopping the app along with the rest of what you mentioned. Though at least on my s8+ it doesn't really seem to help.
