Bug with waspinators signature

So I've noticed a few times, and it just happened again. When waspinator "dies" from a DOT debuff while performing a special attack, he never drops. Time slows down like normal with his sig, the debuffs cleanse, the words show up for it activating, but he continues with the sp1 or sp2 as if nothing has happened.

Obviously a sp3 freezes DOT effects at 1 HP, but shouldn't the other two be broken by "death" like every other bot?

This happens with barricade's backfire too which is supposed to take effect before the special.
