I am unable to start the game, it crashes right after the splash screen

This started happening around when kickback was introduced, I played for maybe a week and then the game crashes right after the splash screen. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, and now it starts the big update process, gets to 9 MB downloaded, then crashes.
I play on an IPad 2 with all current updates. Is there something else I can try to do? I would try clicking on the support icon at the top left in the game to contact support.. but the game won’t load
