Will we see mod shards for dupes anytime soon

As the title says, wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this? The idea has certainly given extra use for 2* bots with the extra shards, and could only be a bonus for the players.
How often do we pull 1* and 2* mods for them to be instantly forged away for minimal return, or left unused to gather dupes at a slow pace?
Just think this idea would help accelerate being able to progress to higher level mods, anyone agree?
