Is it me or is megatronus alt mode the same as the fallen from the films but just repainted and a slight remould?

I think this was intentional, as we don't see an alt mode in the Power of the Primes version of him. The design team often does some blends of bots from different lines, like Ratchet. I think he looks cool. I even like what looks like a little detachable drone craft he has attached. It would've been cool to see that used during his sp3.
