Review after 5 Featured Arenas.

My comprehensive review of the game up to the first 5 featured arenas.

Gameplay- the swiping up and down to avoid ranged attacks and the ability to make ranged and long range heavy attacks is interesting. It, however, feels clunky. The AI seems to recover almost immediately, able to go from a ranged attack to an immediate block. As the player, I find it takes a second to confirm a block after firing ranged shots, so the AI almost always hits me right away, even though my left side is supposed to be in a block.

Stability- Horrible. Whether it's crashing while initially opening the game, crashing while spinning a crystal, crashing while starting a story fight, or crashing while starting or completing an arena fight, you would think the name of the game is Forged to Crash. It does seem they removed the auto KO for linkdeath, as I've Checked every time from story mode and they stopped auto-killing me. I hope they fix it soon. Restarting the game every 5 or 6 fights is annoying at best.

Pricing- You would have thought they would learn after the last game. Knowing this game has but a small fraction of the player base their previous version had, you would think after a couple of months they'd do a pricing overhaul. But no, same old, old same. It felt like the investors were complaining about how many rewards were given out, because a sale for Waspinator Crystals went out. I saw several alliance members, including myself, pull him, which I thought extremely weird. This from may one member pulling him initially.

It's a shame the same old blocks and progression walls exist from the original game, and the incomplete story paths, like we need to be led by the hand to what content we are allowed to do. Ranks are locked away behind paywalls once again. You either pay a lot of money to be the best or you pay a lot of money to almost be the best, or you pay little to nothing and get almost exactly that for your effort.

Seeing other games with hundreds of thousands of people rewarded for the effort they do, and then seeing progression rewards for best 5, top 1-2%, and top 3-10% have the only real noteworthy prizes is embarrassing, especially when you see top 2% cap out at 60. It means only 3000 people even ranked.

I think people have been so badly burned by the previous game, or are too wrapped up in the progression/effort requirements involved with making headway that they've given this game a pass. Or maybe they are waiting for the bugs to be cleared up. No one wants to waste money on a lemon, or try to be a whale in two oceans.

You now have a lower alliance count, down from 30 to 18. We're told the numbers won't change. Mission timers are the same. You can now raid other players bases to earn medals and raid tokens, to purchase goods like t1-2 catalyst essence and alpha spark essence, at absolute minimum quantities. Not holding hope on ranking my second 4/40 without wasting a lot of time or some money.

I'll update my review at whatever point I see a change, in whatever direction. As of now, I'm giving it a C+, because, although it has a couple of new features, such as bases and ranged fighting, it's really just the same pig in a new skin.

I think I have to agree on most points, only I really like the gameplay part. But apart from that the game rally has massive problems, especially in the QA department. I honestly have never seen a game that crashes so much on my iPhone.

And I don't have numbers but at least in the german spoken parts the game is crumbling. Global chat is pretty much dead apart from maybe 10 people and some kid that is talking about dirty things all the time. Most people that I know from MCOC have already quite the game, my alliance recently took in 5 people from another alliance that crumbled to dust (and if it weren't for that my alliance would have crumbled, too I guess but now we have a stock of really active players for now).

The few active people in global are constantly complaining that people in their alliance are quitting, stopping to play and generally aren't active enough.

Also in your review list you forgot Alliance Missions. Even thought the mission itself are fun and I like the adjustable difficutly, the rewards just plain suck. It's commonly accepted now that Map 2 just isn't worth the effort. I mean the ranked rewards for 1-25% are so bad, a member in my alliance didn't even recognize that he got them...

Not here for business advice, but it's clear that this game doesn't have the same pull as MCOC because it doesn't have the same strenght in the franchise. So at least get the QA und control and don't strangle the few active players with your insane paywalls.

For Alliance Missions, I find the AI to be a bit much. My alliance is doing 2-13, and For having a 400-600 point advantage at times, the AI takes too little damsge and deals too much damage. At this point, I can't even imagine a 25 level mission, let alone 100.

That's what the difficulty slider is there for and no one is running 100 yet but plenty running above 25 you can cater difficulty to skill and comfort level for any alliance
