Megatronus buff steal

So I stole Wheeljack force shield....but it was only on icon, not in function. It was a high level duped 5* WJ against me 5/50 4* Megs....WJ hit me an sp2 and took 60+% of health.
Should the buff steal be a buff steal and not just a buff icon steal?

I once stole energon shield with g1 megs but the shield wasnt functioning . So you know
