Backfire from Barricade in map 3 room 2

Been noticing that even after a backfire stack expires and the icon is gone, I’m getting hit with backfire damage when launching a special. Anyone else notice this?
I started doing the path with Barricade in room 2. I’m not sure how it is in the middle path in room 1.
