Flying blades don't trigger Shockwave's energy charge

I fought Bludgeon and block his ranged blades. I got no energy charges. Is it they are counted physical? Then SW must have different strategy fighting Bludgeon and Drift.

    Bludgeon and drift ranged attacks have always been physical damage.
