Drift ability bugged?

Playing against Drift as boss of Special Mission, and I noticed that he had hit me a few times, then I retaliated but his hit count didn't disappear. Then he connected again and his count went up again as though I hadn't hit him. Assuming it's a bug?

    Yeah for some reason when fighting drift his deep focus effect remains active even after taking damage from a hit, but when using him and activating deep focus it works how it's described.

    Nevermind I just can't read, he's listed as having a mod equipped called combo shield, it keeps his combo from ever being broken.
    I am a super genius.

    LOL. Cosmetic mod? -- I'm too cool to let my combo counter reset.
