You've encounter a very COMMON bug.
Restart a couple times and you'll be fine.
Cant say that when you have 4 star g1 optimus prime as a starter!
I got my first 4 star past level 40, mind also that was when they were really hard to get back in 2017
I remember those days... ironically, Optimus was one of the most recent 4* bots I have acquired in the TFTF game (just got him in January after nearly a two year wait). So I say this in all honesty that anybody who has a 4* G1 Optimus in Chapter 1 of Story Missions is not "unlucky".
I had to actually buy a 4* crystal to get my first 4*. It was ratchet btw.
My first 4* was at Level 29, and it was a Grimlock. It wouldn't be until I reached Level 41, SIX months later, that I'd be able to Dupe him. Be thankful for what you've got, there are people who'd kill for your luck.
