Arena opponent choosing, why?

This question has haunted me for a while.
When you start arena, you get to choose an opponent team from 3 of 'em, right?
Now, what does this choice makes a difference?
If you choose harder opponent, does that give you more points if you win?
What I can make out of this is,
1. I remember that team! I can choose them to have easier match up.
2. Let me choose harder team to practice my skill/this bot.
Any other reason to choose a certain opponent?
