Why is Act 4 so Difficult?

Story missions in a game of this nature shouldnt be this tough. I quit the game around the time Jetfire was released. Since then, I've come back to see if anything's changed. I still think this game designed to be a cash grab but im not going to talk about that here.

Since I've been gone, ACT 4 and all of its missions have been released. Im almost done with it but it has been such a pain. All the bosses have these supid high power ratings and broken mods that make the fights damn near impossible. The story shouldn't have this high of a difficulty ceiling. I'm currently stuck on chapter 4 mission 4. Nemesis Prime is just demolishing my team. Heres who im running:

1) Megatronus, 4 star maxed fully forged and awakened lvl 19
2)Prowl 4 star maxed fully forged awakened lvl 25
3)g1/ Titan's Returned Megatron 4 star maxed fully forged not awakened
4) Shockwave 4 star maxed forge lvl 71 awkened lvl 21
5) MV1 4 star maxed forge lvl 0 awakened lvl 10

Nemesis Prime has a power rating of 4 times that of my strongest bot which is Megatronus. Throw those BS mods that make him near unbeatable and you have a recipe for frustration. And no im not bad at the game. Back when i used to play religiously, I forced myself to get good because i didnt have money to constantly spend on revives. I got to point where i could solo the am boss (which was g1 megs at the time) without having to use a revive. I've also beat Rulers of Kaon.

I have no issue with end game content like special missions being hard because i can set the difficulty and its endgame content its supposed to be hard. The story however should not be this difficult. It's designed to make anyone who doesnt have a decently ranked team of 5 stars, suffer. This wouldn't be soo bad if 5 stars werent so scares and gathering the resources to upgrade them to an appropriate lvl can take quite a bit of time. The only 5 star bots i have are Magnus, Waspinator, Grimlock, and MV1. Those bots are not exactly the greatest and again I lack the resources to upgrade them.

If anyone could suggest a way to get through the story bosses with maxed 4 stars that would be great. As of yet i don't have a way to get past Nemesis Prime's healing and power gain mods. He hold onto his specials like they're gemstones and one special 3 will kill me outright.

  • Wow!
Everyone seems to think that the the spotlights and act 4 are really easy.

Also might be because your a veteran but while everybody played this game when you quit, they have mostly got fully ranked up bots that can easily take down even the most annoying bots and mods and they are getting annoyed at how easy the missions are and that's one of the most glaring issues about this game.

Well first of all welcome back to the game buddy, I see you're not having a good time here coming after so long, you've been gone for so long so I can understand the practice is no more in your hands and the skills are lost, this happens in every case whether this game or another or anything else in life. I'd suggest you to take your time build those skills once again get back into the practice of defeating harder enemies with techniques and skills. You can do it for sure I know that once you aquire what is lost. Now talking about bots and ACT 4, this thing is meant for 5 star bots mainly, you definitely need a good team of 5 star bots for ACT 4 and they have raised the bar because it was getting easier for people who build their skills very well and this was to challenge their skills, I see you have some decent bots as 5 stars in which Waspinator is decent, some says he's great but for me there are even greater demolition bots present, MV1 is the top Brawler since day 1 and definitely you should invest in him once you have the resources. Have patience my friend you'll have everything and this game has taught me to be patient in life because nothing comes overnight, just believe in the process and you'll have it all when the time is right, focus on skills participate in AM and be patient you'll get those bots to beat him and if he holds his special moves then I'd suggest you to take Jazz with you, he's definitely a bot to invest in, his heavy attack creates confusion debuff on opponent which causes them to hit their special attacks soon so with Jazz bye bye holding of special attacks and you just gotta dodge all those special attacks, wishing you good luck for future.

If Nemesis is your only problem, than you just need a specialist for him and use the other 4 slots for whomever gets you to the end of the map.

When I say specialist, I mean a combination of both a bot that you use well (as in maneuver/control) and one with a specific ability. Some examples below. Obviously having 5* versions would be easier, but I think it’s very possible to defeat Nemesis and his mods with the bots below in that specialist slot:

    1. OGM (duped, Sig level 20 or higher) - he is the David vs Goliath. Steal the repair and buffs. It will still be a LONG fight and you’ll have to bait a ton of SP attacks from him. I personally think NP is one of the easiest bots to draw it out of so keep at it.

    2. Prowl or Shocky (duped) — I have these two together because their power control is second to none. Still a long fight but now you won’t have that problem of SP3.

    3. Tronus - SP1, then SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2, SP2.....

I was able to beat NP but now Necrotronus is being a pain in butt. He's impossible without 5 stars. Once i drop him to about 10 percent health that BS ability he has stuns my bot and he just nukes me. How am i supposed to defend against that? Garbage like this is what made me quit the game in the first place now im really tempted to quit again
  • I'm feeling your pain! It took me awhile to get passed NP and then... Necrotronus! I have given up on him for a bit and will revisit later. Very frustrating though.

Hey man, I completely understand you. I've never spent money on a game in my 22 years that I'm and I think it was around 1 month before starscream brigade I got my 1st 5*R4 bot. I use Ironhide, MV1, Soundwave, Arcee and Starscream(I know some of them aren't the best, but I wanted to change from the bots that I used as 4*, like Cyclonus(which I have as a 5*), so I event can't finish act3(I've completed everything except the two hardest paths of last mission, they're extremely tanky and strength for me). Talking about your bots, OGM without sig is a very different bot(just getting it dupped you already get a 20% change of steal, wich isn't that bad), UM is a pretty good bot for me(the armor break is very powerful when the opponent has more that 1 armor, and when they don't have them you still have the burning, and I think he can even break passive armor, not sure), wasp have a lack of damaging debuffs(saving for sp3 to get only a 100% damage as burn isn't that effective)but some sp used against more that 1 resistance debuffs can do a great damage, and his ranged buff is pretty useful. Grimlock got a pretty good buff, so he's a good choice right now, but MV1 can heal a lot when dealing high damage, so it's on you to choose. Also what another 4* bots you have upon R4? So we can help you make another team maybe
  • A lot of people with maxed 5* bots struggled against Necro... I think one of the tricks is 5* WJ with nano mastery which can give you enough time to accumulate for your sp to eventually take him down... I would imagine any tech bot with shield can be helpful in this situation since it can limit the damage taken... Wasp and demo Megatron can be helpful due to their signatures which will give you an extra time since they can revive. You may want to consider taking a couple of brawlers which are tankier and can take more damage... I know Primal and Grindor are good counters for Necro... in the end of a day, you need a strategy which is built around your squad.

Also, check recalibration mastery, it will help to reduce stuns...

Anyways, congrats on reaching Necro with the squad of 4* bots... not many people can do that, believe me, it shows that you are a pretty skilled player.
  • I never recognized that Act 4 was hard in the first place, I beat it before I even had any R5 5* bots. I guess you should just use someone who makes the mods less useful? Not entirely sure.

My rank 4, 4-star bots are really weak. They only have a rating of about 2-3K
My rank 5 four stars are:
    Megatronus
    Prowl
    G1 Megs
    Shockwave
    Wheeljack
    Arcee
    Windblade
    Motormaster
    Both Optimus Primes

    My rank 4s are:
    galvatron
    Screamer
    Hot Rod
    Drift,
    Blaster
    Demo Megs
    Soundwave
    Cyclonus
    Ratchet
    Jazz
    Mirage
    Boncrusher

Talking about r5 bots you have some good ones. Tronus obviously, shockwave, prowl, wheeljack, arcee, windblade and both primes. Some of them have good sinergies and supply great damaging debuffs. Talking about r4 idk who would be screamer lmao. Galvatron is pretty strong(I've dealed 12K crit damage on last hit of sp2 with a maxed forge and sig 3*, and I think it even wasn't with hand of chaos), hot rod can help against power rate mods(but having a r5 prowl is even less worth it), drift, blaster, soundwave, cyclonus, jazz, mirage. Ratchet can deal pretty good shock damage and a some stacked stuns. If you can almost max them they're all worth it. Bonecrusher isn't a bad bot, but I see him as a boring bot, but it is on you. When I used 4* bots I choosed arcee, tronus, cyclonus, wheeljack and tantrum. I've never cared that much about synergies, and I also got them at like forge lvl 40

Thanks for the insight by the way Screamer is just a common nickname for Starscream. There were times when the Autobots would call him that in the G1 cartoon
